Si Chuan Sheng 2000 (四川省2000) is a new twist on the classic mahjong game shisen-sho, also known as four rivers, for Microsoft Windows. It takes the logic of the game and applies it to 64 pre-made puzzles that feature not only mahjong
tiles, but also cement blocks, lit torches and packs of dynamite. There
are no savegames: progress is kept across plays via a password system.
The only data saved are high scores.
You may also play in co-op mode with a friend. There are also game modes that allow you to play regular shisen-sho, either in two player mode or against the computer.
Si Chuan Sheng 2000 was published by T-Time Tech & Art in 1998 and sold in Taiwan only. It is entirely in Chinese, but one does not need to understand the language to play and enjoy.
Installation instructions
Windows 32-bit: Mount image or burn to a CD and install as usual.
Windows 64-bit: Despite the game itself being a 32-bit application,
Si Chuan Sheng 2000’s installer relies on 16-bit InstallShield 5.x. As such, there are two options to install the game:
- Install WineVDM beforehand, or
- Extract disk image contents to a folder and replace SETUP.EXE with a
generic 32-bit InstallShield 5.x repack.
To run the game, you must have the installation CD
inserted to your first CD drive (or, at least, a CD with the SETUP.BMP
file on its root). As such, if you have an internal CD drive, you must
burn the image to a disc and insert it before every play. If you have
Virtual CloneDrive, you must disable its virtual drive before mounting
the BIN/CUE with another program.
